For children and familes

What children and their parents should know about Barnahus

What is Barnahus?

Barnahus is a safe and child-friendly place where children who are presumed victims of violence receive the support they need.

What happens there?

At Barnahus, law enforcement, social services, physical health and mental health staff work together under one roof and in a coordinated way. This is so that children don’t have to repeat their story many times.

If you come to Barnahus, you will meet adults who listen to you. They explain what will happen in a simple way. You can tell them what has happened if you want.

What happens after?

After your visit, the adults continue to help you. Their job is to make sure you and your family get the support you need. You are never alone. There is always someone who can listen and help you.
