TRAINING: Putting safeguarding guidance into practice in Barnahus through policy, standing operating procedures, and risk assessments

We are pleased to welcome you to register for our upcoming training series which is designed to support Barnahus to put child safeguarding guidance into practice, drawing on the Child Safeguarding in Barnahus – GuidanceThe training is offered in collaboration between the Barnahus Network and Keeping Children Safe.

Child safeguarding requires not only responding to abuse. It also requires recognising that unintentional harm can occur in services which are meant to help. Proactively identifying and addressing those risks strengthens quality, and ultimately the safety and well-being of the children served. It also ensures that staff and other representatives are protected. This aspect of good governance is also critical in maintaining the reputation and credibility of Barnahus, both individually and as a concept.

The Barnahus Quality Standards promote that each Barnahus has a robust safeguarding framework in place which is designed to protect children from further harm, both within the Barnahus itself and through the system it operates in.  As Barnahus is increasingly recognised as a promising approach to responding to child victims of violence, each location has a responsibility to model best practices in child safeguarding.
