About this training
The training supports multidisciplinary teams to understand and discuss the unique challenges and opportunities that come from bringing different professions together with a shared mission. Through a tabletop exercise, teams additionally discover any areas in their referral pathway that needs further clarification or training. Teams come away from this training with actions on the individual and group level that will lead to improved multidisciplinary teamwork.
The training features:
- Presentations about what the National Children’s Advocacy Centers have learned over the years about why multidisciplinary teams work, and how to make them work well.
- Discussions with participants about how team dynamics and change management impacts their work.
- A tabletop exercise where groups work through a fictitious case, step-by-step.
- A discussion about the results of the tabletop exercise where groups share where there was agreement on what should happen at each step and who should be involved, and where there was not agreement. The discussion also looks at if there were any case details or opportunities missed along the way.
- Time for each team to make a plan for what steps to take to implement the learnings from the day.
