There’s a continuum of 5 steps that we see play out in countries establishing Barnahus. We invite you to explore the courses and support, publications and webinars that the PROMISE Barnahus Network provides.
Step 1 – Getting to yes
Through taking stock, exchange, dialogue, and national strategies.
Highlights of the resources and support the Network provides members ‘getting to yes’ on Barnahus include: support desk access, expert consultations, guidance on feasibility studies, planning study visits. Not to mention, the Barnahus Quality Standards.
Step 2 – Creating an enabling environment
By ensuring the smooth running of Barnahus that are fully integrated in, and contribute to, child-friendly national justice and child protection systems.
Highlights of the resources and support the Network provides members who are developing enabling environments include: tailor-made training, teamwork training, guidance on legal frameworks and feasibility studies, webinars on adapting to local realities.
Step 3 – Establishing the Barnahus
Including through guidance on location, renovations, budgets, facilities, technical systems, and more.
Highlights of the resources and support the Network provides to support the logistics in establishing Barnahus include: training on recording of interviews, interagency agreement templates, template budgets and project funding applications.
Step 4 – Competent and committed staff
Including through a broad range of educational activities for staff and teams in Barnahus across all disciplines.
Highlights of the resources and support the Network provides to support members’ capacity building include training in: forensic interview with avatar practice, therapy, teamwork, medical evaluation training, and other additional modules and tailor-made trainings.
Step 5 – Excellence in practice
Including developing practice so that it is in line with international and national law, policy and guidance, including the Barnahus Quality Standards.
Highlights of the resources and support the Network provides to support members to achieve excellence in practice include: professional development and exchange, peer support, expert consultations, regular publication of fresh tools and resources.
